Environmental Conservation & Climate Resilience

Environmental Conservation

Program Overview

TOSOVC integrates environmental stewardship into community development programming, recognizing the direct link between climate vulnerability and child wellbeing. We build environmentally responsible communities and promote sustainable resource management across Tanzania Mainland.

Persistent Challenges

Environmental degradation and climate shocks disproportionately affect vulnerable communities by reducing food security, increasing disease risk, and limiting livelihood stability. We focus on addressing:

  • Deforestation and soil degradation
  • Climate-related food and water insecurity
  • Inadequate community-led resource management
  • Poor waste management affecting local hygiene

Strategic Objective

To promote environmental sustainability and climate resilience through community education, conservation initiatives, and climate-smart practices.

Target Populations

Youth & School Communities
  • • Students engaged in environmental clubs
  • • Youth climate ambassadors
Rural Households
  • • Farmers vulnerable to climate shocks
  • • Households dependent on natural resources
